A match made of heavenly ingredients

I took the plunge and joined Amor in late April this year. It’s been great to meet men who, like me, don’t much like venturing into pubs and clubs to meet your future life partner.

I wanted to meet a man who loved animals just as much as I did. I was struck by his enthusiasm and keenness to email me straight away! We then, over a few emails back and forth developed an easy relationship on Amor and soon trusted one another enough to share phone numbers.

Our first meeting was in a cafe in a small town halfway between our cities. We had a chat over lunch and went for a walk around the town (in the rain).

Even though I meet new people every day in my work, I remember feeling very nervous and completely out of my comfort zone. I said so to Paul but he was so reassuring and reflected later that he thought our meeting had gone well. I hadn’t thought so.

A perfect opportunity to have a romantic dinner

Some days later I was attending a scheduled conference. Paul arranged to take me out to dinner in a restaurant alongside the ocean. It was the full moon in May – a perfect opportunity to have a romantic dinner for two watching the moon’s reflection on the silvery ocean, so he thought. Unfortunately it was a stormy night; but it didn’t matter! We talked non-stop for three hours; we were accidentally given each other meal at dinner; he ate my meal and I ate his! We were talking too much to notice the mistake! Was he ‘The One’ or wasn’t he? My heart sank when he started talking about looking for a friend-like companion. Then I thought, no he wasn’t ‘The One’ after all.

Since then, I’m in heaven when he’s with me. We are having an absolute ball. We share the travelling fortnight about. I go to Perth for one weekend and the next fortnight he travels to Albany.

I’m a firm believer in a relationship being an equal 50:50. For neither person to be more or less committed than the other. And Paul’s view is that he is in a relationship for the long haul.

It is early days though. In my heart I am sure he is The One! A match made of heavenly ingredients. I’m a Scorpio and he’s a Cancer. I’m a Rat and he’s a Dragon. Whatever that means, I firmly believe this relationship will be an enduring one.
