A Dating App Hot Or Not Relaunches and Shows Alluring People Near You

Hot or Not, one of the best online dating websites in the past where members voted on the attractiveness of others, is realizing its mobile relaunch.

Owned by Badoo online dating company based the UK, this revamped service utilizes location-based data in order to show people the most alluring people around you. Developers of Hot or Not plans also to demonstrate customized Hot Lists, which is based on how the users vote on the profiles of simply recognizable public figures such as celebrities, politicians, actors, and others, Peter Lauria reports at BuzzFeed.

Users also can connect their profiles on Hot or Not to Facebook, allowing this app to autofill their profiles on Hot or Not with their likes and profile pictures on Facebook. The section “game” of Hot or Not app allows users to look through the profiles of Hot or Not members in their location and evaluate them whether with a heart—(hot) or an X—(not). Members can also organize private conversations with interested users of Hot or Not.

Badoo has approximately 200 million members in 180 countries, however Andreev is most concerned in using a relaunch of Hot or Not to infiltrate the U.S. sought-after market. In an interview with BuzzFeed Andreev said that the U.S. is the tastiest market. Then he asks them to imagine that they have a chocolate cake with roses on top and this is the U.S. market.” Jim Young and James Hong, the original Hot or Not’s founders, reportedly sold this website for $20 million.

Andreev info

Andrey Andreev, a Russian entrepreneur who in Spain in 2006 launched Badoo, has had luck with the online dating service in Latin America and Europe. From Russian investment firm Finam he has financial backing, which gave him with $30 million from a 10% stake in that company.

Andreev has hired Barry Diller’s IAC’s former communications director, Justine Sacco. Last year Sacco was fired as a result of posting a questionable tweet before her trip to Africa. After that she quickly apologized for the gaffe of social media and stayed for a month earlier this year in Ethiopia as an NGO volunteer consultant. Sacco is helping reportedly with promotion and relaunch in Hot or Not.
